What Kind of Dad Will Larry Birkhead Be?

This post is long overdue, but judging from traffic and search results, it seems people are still very interested in Larry Birkhead and daughter Dannielynn, so I took a look at their two charts together. I must say, I've always thought Larry seemed like the most sincere of the lot of people competing for the infant, but I was a little concerned by some of the aspects between him and his daughter.

First, the good news: Larry's birth time is not known, but his Moon in Virgo is likely to fall on one of Dannielynn's Virgo planets: the Sun, Mercury, or Venus -- and/or possibly one of the asteroids, relationship-oriented Juno or nurturing Vesta. The doting Moon in Virgo suggests an attentive parent who is attuned to taking care of a child's needs. And Larry's Venus in grounded, paternal Capricorn forms a harmonious trine with Dannielynn's Virgo Sun and a sextile with her Jupiter in Scorpio.

But there could be a dark side to the sextile between Dannielynn's Jupiter in Scorpio (fortune through inheritance) and Larry's social-climbing Capricorn Venus, i.e. the potential for him to take advantage of her estate. Larry's Venus also sextiles Dannielynn's retrograde Uranus in Pisces, which tends to make their relationship rather volatile.

And there are other synastry aspects that are not so positive. Larry's Saturn squaring Dannielynn's Sun might be read as another paternal, protective aspect, but factor in his Mars-Saturn opposition forming a T-square with Dannielynn's Sun and there is a potential for him to vent some anger toward her.

Further, Larry's Sun on Dannielynn's Chiron could suggest the kind of parent who pushes her buttons, seeking out her weak spots to pick on them -- even if he thinks he is teaching her a lesson or doing her good. An out-of-sign trine between his Sun and her Mars reinforces the idea of tempers readily flaring up between them.

I sincerely hope that these aspects are just the signs of normal father-daughter rebellion and that the nurturing aspects of the Virgo Moon dynamic is what predominates in their relationship. But it might be that little Dannielynn grows up to have a troubled relationship with her dad -- which would be sadly understandable, considering the traumatic circumstances of her birth and formative days.

Finally, here is a birth chart for Larry Birkhead, the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby girl Dannielynn.

As has been noted by a few of you attentive readers, Larry shares a birthday, January 22, with Anna's late son, Daniel Smith. See Daniel Smith's birth chart (Exclusive to CelebAstroBlogy, no birth time) His connections to Anna herself include his Mercury conjunct her Mars and his Neptune on her Sun, which suggests the dynamic of secrets or deception between them. See Anna Nicole Smith's birth chart (Exclusive to CelebAstroBlogy, birth time conjectured) Anna seems to have gone out of her way to delude and misinform Larry about being the father of Dannielynn (and quite possibly about her relationship with Howard K. Stern, whom Anna pals have alleged she was never really interested in romantically).

Dannielynn's Moon, Anna Nicole's Death

Okay, okay, after all this talk about little Dannielynn Birkhead's birth chart, I have updated it with the 4:02 birth time. This does give her a Leo Ascendant, and a Moon-Uranus conjunction in Pisces in the 8th house, which, I completely agree with reader Regina, perfectly depicts mother Anna Nicole Smith: addiction, sudden and unexpected death, possible windfall inheritance with a lot of chaos/volatility surrounding it.

Not unlike little Angel Iris Murphy Brown, Dannielynn has a Saturn-Neptune opposition that describes the confusion surrounding her father's identity. (Neptune in Aquarius opposing Saturn also describes the media attention her now-identified father, Larry Birkhead, is getting.) In Dannielynn's case, though, Saturn and Neptune are forming a T-square with Jupiter: The tug of war over paternity and custody is at odds with her needs for growth and development. She may feel stifled or hampered by a lack of attention and encouragement. (Here's an interesting analysis of Jupiter square Saturn that I could see being dead-on as a description of adult Dannielynn.)

With that Jupiter-Saturn-Neptune T-square, as well as her Sun, Mercury and Venus in self-critical Virgo in the 2nd house, I am a little concerned that Dannielynn will internalize the idea that people care about her only because she is worth money -- and start to identify her own self-worth with her uncertain fortune. Sun and Mercury conjunct the South Node in Virgo in the 2nd house could suggest that she becomes chronically self-doubting and neurotic about trusting people.

And the Sun's opposition to the Moon-Uranus conjunction in Pisces might foreshadow some erratic, self-medicating behavior not unlike her mother's. Chiron is conjunct the 7th house cusp from the 6th house, so self-destructive relationships could be one way she acts out or abuses her body.

With Jupiter in Scorpio in the 4th house, she certainly stands a chance of inheriting and living off her mother's estate -- but with the Saturn-Neptune T-square, it will be an uphill battle with some false turns.

I feel bad for Dannielynn having her identity shaped by such traumatic events (Sun opposite Moon-Uranus) and hope that Larry Birkhead proves to be a truly loving, supportive and loyal dad rather than a money and publicity hound. Saturn in the 1st shows her father will be an important formative influence, which could go either way. The comparison of their two charts will have to wait for another day, though... Stay tuned!

Astrology and the Anna Nicole Saga, Part II: Anna's Baby Daughter's Birth Chart

In the first installment of the Anna Nicole Smith astrological saga, we looked at the birth chart of Daniel Smith, her recently deceased son. Now it's time to take a peek at the natal horoscope of his younger (half-)sister, born just three days before his death on September 7, 2006, Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern. (Now, I know Anna Nicole was grieving and wanted to pay tribute to her son and all, but Dannielynn? Really? She couldn't have just gone with Danielle?)

The first thing that jumps out at me about this chart is the Saturn-Neptune opposition, describing the cloud of confusion or deception (Neptune) around the baby's father (Saturn). Of course, presumably not every child born under this configuration requires a paternity test (or Maury Povich sure will have his hands full this season), so it would be interesting to see where this aspect falls in her chart. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any report on the birth that includes a birth time... anyone? Anyone?

With four planets in mutable Virgo, this child may be prone to having a nervous, anxious temperament and to manifest psychological stress through physical health issues. Her Sun-Uranus opposition could make Dannielynn an unstable, volatile personality. While her birth time is unknown, it would not surprise me if the sunrise chart shown here, with the Moon conjunct Uranus, is not far off. The Moon describes the mother, and the dreamy Neptune-ruled Pisces Moon certainly evokes Anna Nicole's in-a-fog persona. A conjunction to Uranus would describe Anna's unpredictable behavior.

The sunrise chart places Saturn in the 12th house of self-undoing and hidden enemies. If this birth time were indeed in the ballpark, it could suggest some behind-the-scenes machinations on the part of her father (or father figure) who is secretly working to undermine her. Whether or not photog Larry Birkhead (who, as ever-astute reader Pluto pointed out, may well share a birthday, though not year, with the late Daniel Smith) is the baby's (sorry, I just can't keep typing that damn name and counting the l's and n's every time) biological father, Saturn may well represent Howard K. Stern, who is effectively entrenched as her father figure since his putative retroactive-shotgun wedding to Anna Nicole. (Plus, "stern" is one of the Saturn keywords.) Does Saturn's opposition to Neptune in Aquarius (public deception or confusion) and square to Jupiter in Scorpio represent an attempt by Stern to lay claim to his partner's assets (Scorpio) by pulling the wool over the public's eyes with regard to Baby D's paternity?

Stay tuned; this isn't over yet... we haven't even looked at Anna's chart for hints as to whether she is complicit with said deception, out of touch with reality, or both. As always, if you have any birth data about any of the parties involved, please share!
